Abbaye de Tourtoirac Built in 1003 on the initiative of the viscount Guy du Limoges, the 11th- century Benedictine abbey of Tourtoirac stands just off the Auvézère River. It is made up of a church with two bell towers, monastic buildings and the remains of medieval fortifications. Here, in the 11th-century Romanesque chapel, you’ll discover resonance bowls; and in the chapter house, Romanesque capitals featuring illustrations of dancing monks. Also not-to-be-missed: the ramparts and a bakehouse. Take advantage of the opportunity to visit the Musée du Roi d’Araucanie (Museum of the King of Araucania).
