Through this museum circuit, you’ll get a complete approach to the Palaeolithic period, from the arrival of the first hunter-gatherers in the Aquitaine region (some 400,000 years ago) until the end of the Ice Ages (some 10,000 years ago). Activities: workshops for children, temporary exhibitions, Archaeology Days, European Heritage Days, Museum evenings, Science festival etc… The welcome centre is a permanent activity and information centre where you can get acquainted with, get information on, and better understand prehistory. 3,000 m2 of various spaces are available for use by all audiences: reception, information, exhibitions, workshops and educational circuits, multimedia library, computer space, films and documentaries, lectures, performances, activities, shop. You’ll find everything youneed to plan yourway through the prehistoric sites of the Vézère Valley and the national Prehistory Museum. This is a symbolic gateway into the valley, which also includes natural environments and historical sites.
