Although these vestiges were reworked in medieval times, they date from the 1st- , 4th- and 5th-centuries, and were part of a peristyle Gallo-Roman villa (‘peristyle’ meaning that the building featured an interior courtyard). The building included a magnificent 60 m2 lobed room as well as private baths. The interest of the site resides in the quality and expanse of mosaic pavements, as well as the site’s authenticated, uninterrupted occupation from ancient times to the present day. Tour this castle, which belonged to a descendant of the Bonaparte family, and which contains a prestigious collection of souvenirs from the imperial family, including more than 150 listed in the register of historic monuments.
