Located near Brantôme in the heart of a wooded valley, Puyguilhem castle has maintained its elegant Renaissance silhouette. It features the charm of buildings of the period: large mullion windows, two staircase towers leading to a main dwelling, and an abundant ornamentation on the upper levels (shells, finials, balusters, insignia, and so on). Inside, the main staircase, featuring remarkable vaults, leads to the great hall with its fireplace adorned with the works of Hercules. The castle currently houses a rich collection of 17th- and 18th-century furniture and tapestries. Browse at your own pace the various fully furnished rooms as well as the huge cellars leading to the mysterious underground! Attested since the 12th century, the medieval castle was reworked over time and it was during the Renaissance that its owners gave it its most beautiful architectural attributes.
