It received its charte de franchise in 1261. This is the oldest bastide in the Périgord. After many tribulations, wars and religious events, the village has been passed down to us in the state that we know it today. As you stroll through its lanes, you’ll see the market hall square still surrounded by 13th-century archways and the adjacent 19th- century church built following the plans of Abadie, the architect of the Sacré Coeur of Montmartre.
