Thanks to a renewed interest in its history the town has been refurbished. The “Coutellerie Nontronnaise” allows visitors to discover the different steps in the making of the oldest folding knife in France (17th century). The "Périgord" knife, created in Nontron some twenty years ago, is now manufactured at the « Moulin de Lapeyre » at Saint-Estèphe. The chateau houses the “Pôle Experimental des Métiers d’Art” which offers exhibitions and induction workshops for crafts, the "Boutique des Métiers d'Art" and the "Espace Lames et Métaux" dedicated to knives. In the "Jardin des Arts", perched on the ramparts, artistic creations mingle with exotic planting. Visitors to Nontron can experience the history, beauty and tranquility of this unique region.
