The village features an exceptional built heritage with typical Pérgordstyle houses, and is well- known for its two castles: the fortified Castelnaud castle, which now houses the Musée de la Guerre au Moyen-Âge (Museum of War in the Middle Ages); and the castle of Les Milandes, which used to belong to Joséphine Baker. Its impressive size and the vertiginous height of its fortifications dominate the village. The old village with its Périgord-style roofs is huddled around the religious building to glorious effect.
