A stroll through its lanes inevitably evokes medieval times. The town features a large English Gothic fortified church built in the late 13th and early 14th centuries; Luziers gate, a listed historical building; and fortified houses which formed a shield against the exterior. It has also maintained its original street layout and the vestiges of its ramparts. The Beamont area includes must-see sights, such as the abbey church of Saint Avit Senieur, listed as World Heritage with UNESCO; and the bastide of Molières, founded in 1284 and never finished, but nevertheless a treasure trove of architectural marvels.
